Sometimes its not about the destination but the journey.

30 Oct

I’m in the process of planning a really big event. Dec 15th at the Park Inn Raddison. Fashion shows, motivational speakers, food and drink, networking, goodie bags and pop up shops. With a focus on inspiration, loving the self and donating to charity.
I’ve attended many events like these and I’ve never realised how much planning actually goes into it.
Needless to say,I had a moment of clarity…
I’ve realised that the universe trust me enough to give me this task now and I am ready.
Even though I know the event will be a success and it will run smoothly, I trust in my partner Melissa and teamleader Widaad. I also came to realise that its all about the little obstacles along the way that I see as challenges and something to learn from and grow. As a business person and on a personal level. And if I have fun while I’m on the journey and do the very best I can. I can truly say. Yes, I took the risk.

Eid Mubarak to all my friends and family

26 Oct

Today is Eid, but it doesn’t feel like a Eid to me. The boys are chilled and I didn’t make any commitments to meet anyone.
And I came to realise that I am making my own traditions and just having a chilled day. I didn’t slave away in the kitchen,I had Mc donalds for breakfast. Pheew I said it. I’m not superwoman. I’m just a woman. Who is making the best that I can of every moment. And in this moment. I would like to see my mother. So off I go to Mitchells Plain.

For positive inspiration

Photography done by yours truly 🙂

Talk about a 180! Taking quite the brief trip down memory lane, I recall being positioned on the ‘’other side”, making reference to those within the glittery fashion bubble in my very first blog post. Just over a year later and I am attending one of SA’s most prestigious events of the industry, the Mercedes-Benz Bokeh SAIFFF! And while this may be nothing short of a glamourous occasion, events leading up to its arrival are what I will treasure most.

Just over a week ago my Samsung gently chimed on delivery of Exposed by Her PR’s opportunity that would reinforce why I have always been besotted with the fashion industry and the creative minds behind it. Your Style Darling received the generous invitation to interview a  of SA’s most admirable fashion designers, and despite being a little star-struck, I found myself being further lavished with enlightenment of the industry in…

EFF Accuse Zuma of Witchcraft After Two Mermaids Where Found in Nkandla’s “Fire Pool”

10 Aug

WTF!!! So what they are saying that they had living mermaids and decided to execute them to be tested in a lab. What k*k!!

The two mermaids that were found swimming inside Nkandla’s “fire pool”

EFF’s motor mouth, Julius Malema, has accused President Jacob Zuma of practicing witchcraft. This after two mermaids were found in Nkandla’s “fire pool”, allegedly alive and kicking.

A leaked picture of the mysterious mermaids has been circulating social networks throughout the week, with many expressing their shock while others painted the gory photo as fake.

However, in a statement issued by presidential spokesman, Mac Maharaj, the two mermaids were confirmed as real.

“The president of the republic, Jacob Zuma, would like to set on record that although the two mermaids were discovered in a pool situated inside his Nkandla homestead, he was not aware of their existence. The Office of the Presidency will be in a better position to comment once an investigation by the security cluster has been concluded,” the statement read in part.

First ever photoshoot in a studio at GlamFive

7 Jul

Recently I had my make up done at Glamfive in Woodstock Cape Town.

The lovely Tarnia featured below did my contouring.

I have to admit that I was very pleased with the results.

See picture above. Contouring creates insane definition. Check my cheekbones.

Glamfive has a unique concept. Whereby they have a photographic studio on the premises.

And of course I had to test it, all in the name of glamour.

I have to admit that it is allot easier giving direction than taking direction.

There was times during the photoshoot when I was awkward and didn’t know what you do.

Therefore, I am trying to let go of the belief that “I am better behind the camera than in front.”

Because in all honestly I enjoyed the photoshoot. It is definitely something will do again.

I wrote a blog regarding the monthly packages they offer. See post here.

Contouring makeup and packages

In short you can pay R290 a month and choose from 3 out of 5 treatments

and every 6 months you get a free photoshoot.

I am definitely signing up. But first I have hours of footage to go through and edit to create my next episode for my channel. #Excited for you to see.

I uploaded my first one on Friday and it received 2700 hits in two days. I am happy with the results. Check it out here.

Make up Part 1

Not only was it my first time shooting in a studio it  was also my first time having my makeup professionally done. #Haaaaaaaaaa

It was one of those moments:)

Just between us friends: For me the goal was putting myself out there and opening myself up to rejection. (the whole concept with the channel) This is something I struggle with.

When Tarnia agreed to do my make up. It already felt like I had won. Because I took the risk to ask her. Thus everything else was a bonus really. I have to admit that going into this experience knowing that I had also achieved my intended goal and having no expectations. My experience was allot more in the moment. They went above and beyond.

Tarnia did my make up.

Zaida did my hair.

Fahima did my photoshoot.

Thanks again ladies. I am signing up for the monthly deal and I’ll be back:)

Contouring Make up

1 Jul

In recent months, I have become fascinated with the concept of contouring makeup.

It seems that contouring your face can completely change the shape of your face…by creating an illusion with highlighting and enhancing certain parts of your face. (Basically where the light catches your face)

“Contouring, a technique previously reserved for runway models and fancy photo shoots, is now becoming part of many girls’ daily routines.”

I think this really puts the Artist in Make Up Artist…

I am a big fan of anything creative and of course I need to try this trend for researching purposes;)

On a quest to learn more about contouring,

I am happy to announce that I will be shooting a tutorial on Contouring for my MY CHANNEL  with Tarnia  from Glam Five

Glam Five is a five star beauty experience out in Woodstock, Cape Town.

They offers state of the art beauty treatments and they have a exclusive ladies club.

Oohhh sounds kinky:)

No, but in all seriousness.

Ladies Club: Exclusive fabulous club where beauty makes sense

How it works:

Monthly, you receive three of five treatments, ranging from Make up, Manicure, Pedicure, Facial and Hair.

How to join

Pay R290 per month.

Personally, I think this is a fabulous idea:

It saves you money. Because you are getting a discounted rate as part of a package.

Investing in yourself ( When your a mommy and you put everyone else first)

This is a sure way to commit to yourself and say hey! I’m taking some much deserved “ME” time and looking fabulous while I’m doing Me. *Fingersnap and Hairflip*

But Wait that is not all…

Every six months a lucky winner is drawn from the ladies club and you could win a professional photoshoot.

This is so my kind of thang.

I am looking forward to meeting Tarnia. I haven’t met her, but I have been stalking her Facebook. She is a tattoo artist and she comes highly recommended.

I have been thinking of getting my very first ink. Read more below
